Stub Request

[edit]

Good day @UtherSRG

I just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to review Neddie Smith’s article sir. Having it taken down actually gave me the chance to dig deeper into his coverage, and I realized that a big reason he wasn’t as widely covered as he should be was due to issues with his old music distributor the kind that helps artists get their music on streaming platforms, like DistroKid.

With that in mind, I’ll be removing any press coverage that doesn’t meet Wikipedia’s standards and making some updates to improve the article. Given these adjustments plus other notable coverage on the subject article Resident Advisor, IMDb, The Source amongst others, sir what do you think about me removing some of those press coverage I talked about earlier sir and converting it into a stub instead of leaving it in draft space?

Would love to hear your thoughts, and again, really appreciate your time on this!

Best,

Your Next Best Mentee Dahproman (talk) 02:18, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

As I said, please read WP:NMUSICBIO. Whether as a stub or a full article, it must satisfy the minimum requirements laid out there. You should also read WP:BLP, though I don't see any current breaches there, once you start removing references that don't pass WP:SIRS, you may need to remove unreferenced content. Once you think it meets the notability requirements, please submit the draft for review and a reviewer will eventually come upon it and review it. - UtherSRG (talk) 12:34, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Good day sir @UtherSRG i have corrected and fixed all issues so it has to meet up with WP:NM WP:BLP and WP:MUSICBIO and am now fully sure it qualifies for a STUB or a full article thank you and enjoy the rest of your day. Dahproman (talk) 20:13, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. Someone will be along to review in in a day or a month or so... - UtherSRG (talk) 21:54, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Are you able to intervene with the talk page section of an article? I see no way to get to a consensus. Engage01 (talk) 12:47, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

No. - UtherSRG (talk) 13:20, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's not an easy thing to hash out something with editors who won't engage on their talk page sections. I can't debate with them if they won't even talk. Engage01 (talk) 13:29, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You do what you can for as long as you can on the article's talk page. When you feel that that has failed, you take the discussion to another venue designed for these discussions, or where intervention can be requested neutrally, such as WP:DRN. Seeking out individuals is canvassing, as pointed out below. - UtherSRG (talk) 13:33, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Another venue is an admin in many cases. You don't wish to be involved, fine. Engage01 (talk) 13:42, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
As I said, there are places for engaging admins in a neutral manner, like WP:DRN. Please do not seek out individuals so settle disputes. - UtherSRG (talk) 13:44, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have more to ask you, DRN is not something I think most users understand. Engage01 (talk) 13:46, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
And now you know. - UtherSRG (talk) 13:48, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No, I don't think I do know. DNR is not something "most" may understand. I am not understanding that much about it other than that it seeks to resolve disputes per its name. Engage01 (talk) 13:56, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Does your original question to me not fall under the umbrella of requesting a dispute resolution? Please cease this argumentation. - UtherSRG (talk) 13:59, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

To be clear, there is an interaction here with an editor being reported per Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Harassment or Canvassing. 13:16, 22 February 2025 (UTC) Borgenland (talk) 13:16, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I was preparing to tell them not to canvass but to seek redress elsewhere. You've saved me the trouble. :D - UtherSRG (talk) 13:20, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
How is that canvassing? There's no way to get to a consensus? Engage01 (talk) 13:28, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not try to hash this out here. This isn't the right venue for this discussion. - UtherSRG (talk) 13:31, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

get it? tee hee.... as for the edits i made last night ... i plan to bring them back, but i had assumed that pointing to well-sourced articles was sufficient to meet sourcing requirements in the parent article. i wasnt finished anyway ... I was looking for a particular sea animal with a large body but a very slow metabolism such that, if i remember right, it doesnt expel waste at all, since its almost plantlike metabolism allows it to simply accumulate in bodily tissues over its lifespan. But I couldnt find what I was looking for. Best regards, Soap 12:26, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

No, you need direct citations to a reliable source. - UtherSRG (talk) 12:35, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
